Over 110 Years of Sustainability

Since William Elvis Sloan introduced the first modern flushometer in 1906, his company’s innovations have helped define the fields of commercial restroom design and water sustainability.

Here are a few other highlights of over the last 110 years:

• 1915 – The Royal® Flushometer wins a Gold Medal at the Panama-Pacific International Expo.
• 1973 – The new Sears Tower, at the time the world’s tallest inhabited building, installs Sloan 3.5 flushometers to set a high standard for water savings.
• 1996 – Sloan debuts its first hands-free commercial faucet operated with fiber optics, which uses up to 40% less water than conventional faucets.
• 2015 – Sloan’s AER-DEC® Sink System sets new standards for beauty and hygiene by combining soap dispenser, faucet and hand dryer into one system.
